Learn the Warning Signs
Most Ontarians feel a personal responsibility for reducing woman abuse...
and recognizing it is the first step.

Take the warning signs seriously.

How can I find supportive services in my community?

The Assaulted Women’s Helpline offers a 24-hour telephone and TTY crisis line to all women who have experienced abuse. The staff team at the AWHL also speak to friends and family members of abused women, service providers and other professionals in contact with abused women.
The AWHL provides counselling, emotional support, information and referrals for women in the province of Ontario. A telephone counsellor provides immediate crisis counselling, safety planning, as well as referrals to local agencies and support for the ongoing struggle to name and act against abuse. Counsellors never meet clients face to face as this is a telephone service only. Counsellors use a supportive approach that encourages women to look at their needs, and make their own informed decisions.

The service is anonymous and confidential. You don't have to give your name and the toll-free number won't show up on your phone bill. The AWHL does not have call display.

You can reach the Assault Women’s Helpline at the following numbers:
