Most Ontarians feel a personal responsibility for reducing woman abuse...
and recognizing it is the first step.

Take the warning signs seriously.

We have developed a standard professional, training presentation for presentations to the general public. It includes a PowerPoint template and interactive exercises on the warning signs of woman abuse. The standardized presentation is a tool that you, as an NFF coordinator or champion can use to roll out the campaign in your community and support the general public in understanding the warning signs.

Check out the PowerPoint training presentation (8.4 mb) and the accompanying handouts (1.0 mb) to consider how you might use this package to raise awareness of the warning signs of woman abuse and how Neighbours, Friends and Families can help.

If you have been working on the NFF campaign for some time and are very familiar with it, you might consider offering a training session for facilitators in your community.

The Neighbours Friends and Families – NFF Community Leaders Training Agenda with Facilitator Notes (110 kb) provides you with an outline of training activities and notes for the lead facilitator. The NFF Facilitator Tips (75 kb) handout provides additional useful information.

The comprehensive two day training package provides intensive education about the conceptual framework of NFF including warning signs, risk factors, how to talk to abusive men, how to respond to disclosures of abuse from women, from neighbours, friends or family members and/or from abusers and how to deal with them.

It is focused on preparing participants to teach others by improving and practicing facilitation skills using the primary messages of the campaign (i.e. warning signs, risk factors, talking to abusive men, vicarious trauma.) It is also intended to promote a common vision of NFF, link local campaigns to the provincial campaign, enhance co-ordination and linkages among NFF Coordinators and champions, and develop community specific strategies for engaging community members in NFF.
